Why Lord Vishnu sleeps on Ananta Shesha.

Ananta means infinite. The Divine Serpent, Lord Ananta, is infinite. The earth, according to Puranas, is 200 million miles in radius, and 70,000 miles thick. Can you even imagine the weight of such an Earth? It’s beyond our imagination. This huge earth rests upon one of the Hoods of the Divine Lord Ananta. On His gigantic Hood, the earth appears to be no more than a mustard seed.

The humans, gandharvas, demons, serpents, sages, gods, and yakshas - even Lord Shiva Himself! - worships Lord Sankarshan, or Lord Ananta.
